As the day to head to India approaches I’m busily trying to get ready to go. Vaccines, travel plans, gifts for our hosts, lesson preparations – all the things that must get ‘done’.

But I’m also learning that the real preparation isn’t really among the physical external but the invisible internal. A prepared heart is with more than anything. And no amount of preparation that excludes heart preparation will ever be enough.

As I get ready to teach a lesson tonight on fasting and solitude, I’m convicted about my lack of both as a means of preparation for this journey.

But there’s still time to prepare.
